The Festival

GANGA KINARE [/गंगा किनारे/], means “by the banks of the River Ganga". We talk about the Ganga and its banks in multiple ways – especially the idea of music echoing across its beautiful ghats fills the air with supremacy and purity.

The festival aims to spread awareness about protecting our rivers, restore the purity with the vision of connecting our bonds to the holy river, Ganga.

Uniting souls through music. Create a connect and a special bond with the younger audiences and the holy river. Celebrate the soul of the river through music with artists who are passionately devoted to the cause of the rivers.

VARANASI – THE BEGINNING 

The connection of Varanasi i.e Benaras has been a long one. The city may be popular as the religious capital of India but holds immense cultural importance too. Artists’ have been deeply connected to the city and its core rests in bringing people together and sharing the city’s cultural heritage.  Varanasi is the perfect city for an IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE for people to imbibe the cultural nuances of music and connect to its cause of the rivers.

Varanasi being a unique musical epicenter. The ghats come alive at the Ganga Kinare Music Festival #GKMF. Alongside the banks of a timeless river, the Ganga. In the city that is sentinel to its history and set against the backdrop of a painted picture straight out of a postcard.  We celebrate the purity & significance of our rivers across the beautiful ghats through music that will echo throughout the joys and sights of an unforgettable journey and a beautiful evening experience fused with culture & heritage.

KAILASH KHER

PADMASHRI KAILASH KHER

Kailash Kher's music is characterized by a blend of Indian classical music, Sufi influences, and folk elements. His deep, resonant voice and emotive singing style has made a distinctive presence in the Indian music industry. He has received several awards for his contribution to music, including the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song "Teri Deewani." He has also been honored with the Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian awards in India. Kailash Kher is the frontman of the band Kailasa, which has produced several successful albums. The band's music often explores a fusion of different musical genres.

Pratibha Singh Baghel

Pratibha has showcased her versatility by lending her voice to songs in historical movies such as MANIKARNIKA, BHUJ SAAND KI AANKH, and BELLBOTTOM. Her recognition as the "Voice of Manikarnika" highlights her impactful contribution to the music of the film. The launch of her first ghazal album in 2020, featuring collaborations with legends like Gulzar Sahab, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and Deepak Pandit, establishes Pratibha as a prominent figure in the world of ghazals. The title "New Age Ghazal Nightingale" signifies her innovative and contemporary approach to this traditional genre. Winning the prestigious "Lata Mangeshkar Alankaran Award" in 2008 and receiving the National Classical Vocal Award further emphasize Pratibha's excellence in classical and vocal music.
